There was so many messages that the kids learnt from and have taken home with them' 'The story of challenges yet being resilient and still kind was powerful. Dion Leonard is an Australian/British ultra runner who competes around the globe in ultra running events ranging from 100 miles to over 240 miles in some of the most extreme conditions known to man. Ultramarathon runner Dion Leonard came to the world’s attention after he decided to adopt a stray dog, Gobi, whom he met during a 7-day marathon in the Chinese Gobi Desert. I love that there are 3 different reading levels of ‘Finding Gobi’, a book for everyone, a great message that can reach all' 'Students, teachers and administrators all LOVED the presentation. Students still love reading about Gobi's story' 'Still the best author visit to this day. In October 2016, HarperCollins Publishers announced the expected publication of a trilogy of books about Gobi's and Leonard's journey together. The children learnt so much and it was so much fun' Leonard has now brought Gobi home to Edinburgh after the four month quarantine in Beijing required by UK law for unregistered strays was completed by January 5, 2017. 'We read Finding Gobi as our school read, what a fantastic book it was and what a delight to have Dion and Gobi visit us to share more on their wonderful story. ![]() Dion's ability to read the Picture Book to Grade 1/2/3 then switch to Grade 5/6 with the Chapter Book version was fantastic' The Finding Gobi presentation was so inspiring, the students didn't want it to end. ![]()
